He looked over at her and then shrugged “I hate dances, it was boring anyway. All the nerdy kids like Adam and Diana like that kind of thing.” He replied sipping his drink again.
Portia let out a small laugh and nodded her head. “Yeah, Fire and Ice Ball? It sounded lame. At least now I never have to go to another dance.”
“Whys that? I know you enjoy them deep down.” He told her with a small smirk.

He watched her and then sipped his own drink before replying. He had known Portia a long time now, fooling around with her when they were young and in middle school and then early high school where they dated. He looked over at her. “I’m not here to play games Portia.” He said taking another sip of his drink and looking away.
Portia sighed and looked over at him. Noticing his outfit for the first time, she raised a brow before setting her glass down. “Why aren’t you at the dance?” She hated to admit it, but she was actually pretty glad he was here.

James got bored of the dance quickly, he wasn’t in the mood to hang around and wait to walk home with his brother so he walked over to the grill, hoping he’d see someone in particular. Especially after hearing the news that Portia’s parents had died through his dad. He walked in and spotted her straight away, sitting at the bar with her long blonde hair trailing down her back. He silently took a seat next to her and ordered them both drinks, leaving the silence for her to speak to him when she was ready.
Portia had never felt more alone in her life. Meredith hadn’t spoken to her since they’d found out about their parents, and Portia hadn’t been to school longer than a period or two sense. So the fact that she was missing the dance hadn’t really bothered her too much, but she was pretty tired of being inside her house so she made her way to the grill. Heading inside, she walked straight up to the bar and ordered a shot of tequila. She barely even noticed James sit down next to her, and only turned her head slightly when her drink was placed down in front of her. Taking a sip of it, she sat the glass down with a thud. “Thanks for the drink, but I’m really not in the mood for games tonight.”
He watched her and then sipped his own drink before replying. Fire and Ice Ball| Jewel&James
James looked up and didn’t know who the girl was, but he knew that this town has a boat full of new people everyday. He shrugged and handed her the flask. “You’re welcome.” He told her, sipping his drink.
Jewel smirked taking a drink of the whiskey, “Thanks.” She said handing it back to him, “I’m Jewel by the way, you are?” She wasn’t normally always nice and coming into a new town she felt weird having to be.
He took the whiskey back and looked at her. “I’m James Lockwood.” He replied, sipping his drink again and observing the room.

Fire and Ice Ball
James walked into the ball in a black Armani tux and a red tie, he wasn’t big on following the rules, especially dress code, but his step mother made an effort in dressing her sons and for this event he decided to just shrug and go along with the rules. He picked up a drink as he walked and sighed when it tasted non alcoholic, sitting down nearby a table and topping up his cup with whiskey he had in a flask hidden in his pocket.
Jewel dressed in a one of her older dresses that was slightly off white, she slipped on some black heels. She decided she would walk to the school so when she walked into the ball she happened to see a guy pouring whiskey in his glass, she smirked walking over to him. “Wanna share?”
